There are some interesting things that I found in the United States.
The first thing is that the doors of cabin toilet don’t go from the floor and they have a space that you can see the feet of a person inside. When I arrived at the airport in Atlanta, I went to the restroom and was surprised to see it. Then I asked an American friend about it, and she said that this gap in doors has several reasons. First, safety and emergencies. If someone has a medical emergency inside there, it’s easier to help them. Second, crime prevention. The lack of privacy discourages illicit activities, such as drug use, vandalism, or graffiti. Third, easier cleaning. Open spaces at the bottom allow to mop the entire restroom floor quickly without opening every door. Her explanation makes sense for me, especially about the efficiency at cleaning.
The second thing is about people here. Waking through the campus I often hear girls praising each other’s outfits. They don’t have to be closer or know each other. They just say “Oh! I love your shirt” casually. Honestly, I love this habit because I think that everyone has seen somebody attractive at street or liked the outfit, so why don’t you say it to those persons? No one feels bad about being praised for others so there’s no reason not to do.
For the remaining 97 days, I want to visit many different places and have lots of new experiences so that I can learn more about the United States.
